A collector’s chess set, crafted by expert artists from the art schools of Ortisei and Selva Gardena.
Hand-carved with bevelled chisels, whittling knives and mallets, guided by sensitive and attentive hands that bring shape and life to the wood.
Wood from the alpine forests is best suited to carving. The raw wood is cut, sawn into planks and then reduced into small blocks matching the dimensions of the sculpture to be made.
The expert craftsman uses a pantograph to turn the wooden blocks into rough sculpture forms. These are then worked by hand down to the smallest detail.
The final stage of a wood sculpture is its decoration.
The carvings are burnished and wax-polished entirely by hand, with patience and meticulous care.
The colours used vary from one sculpture to another: each piece is unique.
In the end, this burnished and wax-polished chess set is a true work of art. All too rarely celebrated, these passionate sculptors give you the chance to own a truly unique and exceptionally high-quality chess set.

I'm not a big fan of buying this kind of product online, I like to see it before buying. But honestly nowadays it's become almost impossible to find a nice traditional chess set in shops. So I ordered a wooden model online and I'm really pleased with my purchase. The set is very pretty, the pieces are beautiful and it looks great in the living room. We play regularly with my husband and the rest of the time it's almost like decoration. The only small complaint I could make is that there isn't a huge choice of storage boxes when you have pieces that aren't Staunton. Otherwise nothing to say, very satisfied.

They replied quickly and sent me a new king free of charge. The new piece arrived a few days later, very well protected and this time no issues at all. It can happen that a piece breaks during transport, even when well packaged. What matters most is the seller's reaction when there's a problem.
