Each piece contains a small magnet, which holds it in place on the board. Games can therefore be played while travelling, on a train or in a car, without the pieces sliding or falling. The board stays light and packs away easily, along with the pieces, in its case.

What size of magnetic set should you choose?

For travel, a 30 to 35 cm board with 3.5 to 4 cm squares is compact and practical. If you also play at home, a 40 cm format, with 4.5 cm squares, offers more comfort. Check that the pieces fit into the storage.

Is a magnetic set suitable for a child?

Yes, it is actually a good choice: the pieces stay in place, which avoids pieces falling and games being abandoned. The magnets are built into the pieces and do not come loose in normal use. However, choose a format where the king is no less than 5 to 6 cm tall for easy handling.
