This Greek mythology chess set draws inspiration from the treasures of antiquity, inviting players to discover history through each finely detailed piece.

Each piece, crafted in blue and bronze metal, is carefully inspired by the greatest masterpieces of ancient Greece. The king is an impressive replica of the famous “Poseidon of Melos”, while the queen embodies the majestic “Athena Promachos”. The knight and bishop are also representations of major works created by the sculptor Phidias, while the rook pays tribute to the Attic stele dedicated to the brave Aristion, who fell in battle. The pawns, sturdy and elegant, are inspired by bronze statues of armed warriors dating back to 500 BC.

This set impresses with its generous dimensions. The chess board, made of metal, measures 54 x 54 cm, offering a sumptuous setting to showcase the refined detail of the pieces. The king height, at 10.5 cm, gives this set a particular presence, ideal for chess games as strategic as they are majestic. This set is available with a brown or turquoise chess board, as you prefer.

Ideal for lovers of Greek mythology, this set does more than embellish your games – it turns your playing space into a true tribute to Greek history and culture.

Size Guide (Pieces & Boards)

Matching Guide

Choosing the right board size

A beautiful chess set rests on a simple balance: pieces well proportioned to the size of the squares. To choose a harmonious board, the most reliable guide is the diameter of the king's base.

Key guideline: ideally, the king's base takes up about 75% of the square.

Traditional wooden chess sets

King height	King base diameter	Square size
7,3 à 7,6 cm	3,8 cm	4,7 à 5,1 cm
9,5 à 9,8 cm	4,4 cm	5,7 à 6 cm
10,1 cm	4,1 à 4,7 cm	6 cm
11,2 cm	5 cm	6,3 cm
12,7 cm et plus	4,4 cm	6,3 à 7 cm

Metal, resin, pewter, brass or themed sets

King base diameter	Square size
2 à 2,4 cm	2,8 à 3,5 cm
2,5 à 2,9 cm	3,5 à 4 cm
3 à 3,4 cm	4,3 à 5 cm
3,5 à 3,9 cm	4,8 à 6,2 cm
4 à 4,5 cm	6 à 8 cm

A board that is too small can hamper moves and make the set look cluttered. À l’inverse, a board that is too large can break the harmony of the whole. The right size brings both playing comfort and elegance.
