Bergamo Knight Chess Set, Hand-Painted in Solid Alpine Wood, Traditionally Carved – Contact Us to Check Availability

A collector’s set of chess pieces, created by expert artists from the art schools of Ortisei and Selva Gardena.

Hand-carved with bevelled chisels, carving knives and mallets, wielded by sensitive and dedicated hands that give shape and life to the wood.
Wood from the Alpine forests is the most suitable for carving. The raw wood is cut, sawn into planks and then reduced to small blocks, matching the dimensions of the sculpture to be created.

The expert craftsman uses a pantograph to turn the wooden blocks into rough sculpture shapes. These are then worked by hand down to the smallest detail.

The final stage of a wood sculpture is the decoration.
The sculptures are entirely hand-painted in oils, with patience and meticulous care.
The colours used vary from one sculpture to another: each one is unique.

Ultimately, this colourful chess set is a genuine work of art. Too little celebrated, these passionate sculptor artists offer you the chance to own a truly unique, high-quality chess set.
