The Timeless, without electronics
DGT offers its Timeless set in two versions. The electronic version is placed on its chess boards, which record the moves. This one has exactly the same design, in wood, but without electronics. DGT designed it for tournaments that want identical pieces on every table, alongside their electronic chess boards, and it also suits play at home or at the club just as well.
The right chess board for this set
The king stands 9.5 cm tall, and DGT recommends a chess board with 5.5 cm squares: this is the point to check before ordering if you already have a board. DGT presents these pieces as tournament-size pieces and pairs them with its walnut chess board, sold separately in the shop, whose squares are precisely that size.
A complete, weighted set
The set contains 34 pieces: the 32 pieces of the game plus a second queen in each colour, so you can play a promotion without hunting for a replacement piece. The pieces are weighted, and the complete set weighs 920 g.
Electronic or not: don’t choose the wrong listing
The shop also sells the electronic DGT Timeless pieces, with the same design, in both standard and weighted versions. If you play on a DGT e-Board or Smart Board and want your moves recorded, those are the ones you need: DGT states that its electronic chess boards are used with its electronic pieces. The set on this listing is intended for a classic chess board.
