A set of DGT electronic chess pieces with a clean Staunton design, hand-shaped from wood. They are used on a DGT electronic chess board, sold separately.

DGT describes the Timeless as the classic Staunton model in its simplest form: clean lines, little ornamentation, and a knight with a distinctive design that gives the set its character. Each piece is shaped by hand from wood, with a felt base. DGT presents it as the choice of many professional players.
Placed on a DGT electronic chess board, these pieces are recognised one by one by the board. They are used to record your games, broadcast them live, and play online on a real chess board, without having to replay moves on screen. They work with the USB and Bluetooth e-Boards, the Smart Board, and the tournament e-Boards. DGT sells these boards without pieces, so you can match the set to the board's finish.
This listing is for the unweighted version, which weighs 680 g. DGT offers the same model with added weight, sold in the shop on a separate listing: that set weighs 920 g. The choice comes down to personal preference, depending on whether you prefer lighter or heavier pieces.
These pieces do not replace an electronic chess board: without a DGT board, they cannot record moves, broadcast games, or allow online play. Please check that you already own a DGT e-Board or Smart Board, or add one to your order. The Pegasus and the Centaur come with their own pieces, supplied with them.

A beautiful chess set rests on a simple balance: pieces well proportioned to the size of the squares. To choose a harmonious board, the most reliable guide is the diameter of the king's base.

A board that is too small can hamper moves and make the set look cluttered. Conversely, a board that is too large can break the harmony of the whole. The right size brings both playing comfort and elegance.

I'm not a big fan of buying this kind of product online, I like to see it before buying. But honestly nowadays it's become almost impossible to find a nice traditional chess set in shops. So I ordered a wooden model online and I'm really pleased with my purchase. The set is very pretty, the pieces are beautiful and it looks great in the living room. We play regularly with my husband and the rest of the time it's almost like decoration. The only small complaint I could make is that there isn't a huge choice of storage boxes when you have pieces that aren't Staunton. Otherwise nothing to say, very satisfied.

On joue régulièrement avec mon mari et le reste du temps il sert presque de décoration. Le seul petit reproche que je pourrais faire, c’est qu’il n’y a pas énormément de choix pour les coffrets de rangement quand on a des pièces qui ne sont pas des Staunton. Sinon rien à redire, très satisfaite.

I ordered a complete chess set and unfortunately the black king arrived broken, despite the parcel being very well packaged. I sent an email to customer service with a photo of the broken piece. They replied quickly and sent me a new king free of charge. The new piece arrived a few days later, very well protected and this time no issues at all. It can happen that a piece breaks during transport, even when well packaged. What matters most is the seller's reaction when there's a problem.
